You wouldn't be the first person to tell me that. [It's probably his one biggest fault -- you know, next to the whole painfully-too-trusting thing.]

I suppose I don't see it as something worth being upset about. It didn't cause any real harm, and I'm sure there was no malicious intent involved.

What if it did? I can't forgive anyone who would hurt you, Ion.

...if it was an accident and they felt remorse for what they did, then I would forgive them for it. Even if it had been malicious, if they apologized, I would see no reason not to forgive them.

Can you really get them to apologize?

Well, that would depend on them. If they didn't want my forgiveness, then they wouldn't apologize in the first place.

But sometimes it can be difficult for people to apologize. It can take a lot of courage for someone to face their own mistakes. So the least I can do is accept that apology when they give it.

So what if they don't...

Then I would be patient, and wait until they do. I'm sure they would be able to find it in themselves to apologize if they truly wished to make up for what they did.

But what if they don't!

But I can't think of anyone I would consider a friend who would do something like that. And if they weren't my friend, it wouldn't have been a harmless prank, like this one.

I still think they shouldn't have done it at all.

No, perhaps they shouldn't have. But I don't think there's any point in worrying about it anymore.

I'd be alright! As long as they stopped being mean to you.

But how do you know that would make them stop? What if it only encouraged them to come back and do something even worse? What if they wanted to take their revenge against you out on those around you instead?

I know you would try, but even still, you can't predict what might happen. That's why you need to think about your actions and the consequences they might have before you do them.

But if you're only protecting me, who's going to protect you? You're my friend, and it worries me when I hear you say things like that. I don't want to see you get hurt any more than I want to get hurt myself.
