[Ion, you are a dear and this is why Perona likes you. Also because you're adorable, but that's pretty much a given...

Giggling softly, she reaches behind him - mindful of his wings - and plucks the sign off his back. It's funny, but a good trick needs to end somewhere. Best not abuse it, that's no fun at all. After removing it, she holds it up for Ion to see, still snickering behind the paper.]

Desperate for affection Ion-chan~? Ehe, that's cute...

...oh! When did that get there?

[This is not the face of a Fon Master in the know. He even reaches a hand behind him, as if to check and make sure there wasn't another lurking somewhere on his back.]

Have I been walking around with that on my back all day?

[Perona's laughter continues - soft, quiet giggles. His reaction was so cute and innocent that she's somewhat regretting removing that sign... Seeing an adorable thing like Ion getting hugged throughout the day would have been such a delight.]

Eeh, it seems that way... Someone seems to be making mischief today, horohoro, but this seems like such a cute trick to play. Have you been getting many hugs today, Ion-chan? That's so precious...

Now that you mention it, I did get a few earlier today when being greeted. But I hadn't realized there was a particular reason for it...

[And here he thought he just had really cuddly friends, gosh!]

[Oh gosh, if only she were there to witness such cuteness! Ah, maybe she ought to have not removed that sign...and had one of her hollow ghosts follow him around to see the hugs continue... Oh well, she got her own hug, so that's good enough.]

Horohoro, well...it's nothing to be upset about, is it? Though I can't imagine who'd want to play a trick on you, Ion-chan, you're much too sweet to do anything nasty to...

Oh, I'm not upset at all. Even if it was a trick, I don't see any reason to be upset about being hugged a few times. Though I can't quite think of anyone who could have put that there.

[Maybe if it had been more malicious, he would have suspected the actual culprit -- as it stands, this just seems too silly for him.]

Mm, it seems more cute than mischievous... [She really is regretting removing it now. Ugh, how cute would it have been to see him getting hugged through the day?! Uuugh, she would have melted for sure!] But this isn't the first prank I've seen today. There were others, worse things, that I've seen done to some people.

[She's seen people with their hair dyed, soaking wet (bucket o' water and the door trick), among other things.] The only day I know that's meant for mischief is far, far away...and it's the Day of the Dead, where ghosts and goblins come out to wreck havoc on the living, horohorohoo!!

[She grins and holds her hands out like claws...which, really, may be far more terrifying as she does indeed now have fangs and her eyes take on a wine-like color around the iris as she pretends to be one of those scary monsters she spoke about.] That's my favorite holiday!

The Day of the Dead? I've never heard of something like that before.

[Yeah, the claws and the eyes are bit... unsettling, but he's not gonna judge okay Miss Perona is a very nice person!! Besides, he already knows she had a scary dog creature from her last stay, so it's really not that surprising in a way.]

Is it part of some tradition back on your world?

No? That's so unfortunate! [It's such a fun holiday, at least for her and her past crew on Thriller Bark. ...Though every night was spent like that holiday, only to a less outrageous and far less terrifying degree. Pirate folk love to party, after all.]

Mm, well I wouldn't say tradition, but it's more a festival...to honor those that have passed, and celebrate the darker side of the world. On that day, the bonds tethering the untamed souls to the Underworld loosen, and the most foul and terrifying creatures of nightmare rise from the earth and the depths of the sea...to do as they please! Whether it be to extract revenge on those that have did them in, or perhaps to visit a loved on they left behind...or simply to sing and dance and scare people - it can all be done in one night!

But among the seas where I was born, spirits are not kind and good... The era of pirates reigns strong, and does not give to those that mean to crush it. Those spirits mean only to ravage and dismember the ones they cross paths with...bloodthirsty wraiths and enraged souls...hellhounds to fetch them back to purgatory... [She sighs, holding her face.] It's amazing...all those screams of terror...

I'm so sad you don't have that where you're from, Ion-chan! It's deliciously frightening!

[...he's trying really hard not to look horrified right now. Suddenly he's starting to understand why his friends worry about him sometimes... but at least Perona is on his side, right?]

Yes, it... certainly does sound like a rather frightening experience... [Cough.] I can't say we have anything similar to that on Auldrant. We have monsters that live outside of the cities, but there's no particular festival dedicated to them.

Monsters? [If she had a tail, it would definitely be wagging right now. The tone of Perona's voice practically bleeds ecstasy, and she clasps her hands together near her heart.] Your whole world is inhabited with monsters?!

Wh-What kinds are there? Big ones? D-Do they have long, jagged teeth and claws? Furry bodies and leathery wings~? Something like a griffin or maybe a chimera? Weeeeh, that would be so cuuute!!

[She giggles into her hands, wiggling on her heels. ~~If Ion tells her about Cheagles, she may faint~~]

[What is with the pink-haired ladies in his life and being obsessed with monsters and other scary things?]

Oh, well... there's actually quite a few different types. Some are smaller than house cats, but others can get as big as the house itself. [If he had some semblance of artistic skill, he'd just draw her some. But since they're in the library and all--]

There might be a book on the subject here with pictures, if you'd like to see them? I know they have a rather sizable section of books from Auldrant here.

[~~It's genetic.~~ Perona does some doodling skills, but their mostly for designing clothes, not fantastical horror-terrors of her most beloved nightmares and macabre tales of death and misfortune. But already her imagination is piecing together creatures that would make other people recoil with disgust or fright.]

Oh, that'd be so exciting! I'd love to see cute little monster from your world! I can describe some of the stranger beasts from my own in return! [The sea kings, the many diverse species of fish, and the occasional bizarre animals native to various islands and places. Lapahns, kung fu dugongs, and yagara bulls are some of the few. The former being one of Perona's favorites - for their cute (to her) appearance and their vicious tendencies.]
