[Sorry Luke, Ion's not backing down! Especially not with crappy lies like those, wow.]

Your face looks a little red, is all... you don't feel sick, do you? If that's the case, perhaps you should lie down for awhile.

[You know. On the bed that's covered in rose petals. Because that is totally manly, yep.]

[Luke glances back at the bed, and he has pretty much the same thought: "Not on a bed like that." He shakes his head after that, and... gah. Maybe he should just -

He reaches out to take Ion's arm, though he keeps his gaze on the flowers on the shelves.]

Ion, I... [Guh, he can't say it.]

[O-Oh my, that wasn't the reaction Ion wasn't expecting at all. There's a bit of a blush forming on his face as well, his other hand coming over to rest on top of Luke's.]

...yes, Luke?

[Just what is he trying to say?]

[There's a long pause... before Luke starts to talk again, still holding Ion's arm.]

We've... been through a lot together, haven't we? And I... I just - I wanted to say how much I... appreciate that. You've been there for me and... [His head lifts:] I -

[And again, his voice is caught in his throat.]

[Ion's heart feels like it's doing backflips in his chest. He wasn't sure where all of this was coming from, but somehow it had him feeling a bit... anxious, perhaps?]

[But of course, more than that, it made him feel happy.]

...we have been through a lot. And you're not the only one who appreciates someone having been there this whole time. [Slowly, and without a trace of hesitance, he reaches up and rests a hand on Luke's shoulder, smiling fondly.]

Thank you, Luke.

[He looks at the hand on his... shoulder. And all at once, the sliver of bravery he felt dies away. It was a companionable touch, something that friends share. Not... more than that.

So, after a moment, he straightens up a little and grins a bit too widely.]

Uh, right. Yeah... Thank you too, Ion. [M-Maybe they should leave before Luke does anythings stupid. The last thing he wants to do is ruin what they do have by this stupid, selfish want to turn it into a little more.]

[A hand on the shoulder was definitely a companionable touch. That is, when done briefly. But Ion's hand hasn't moved yet, and might even be gripping Luke's shoulder a little, lingering as though he didn't want to let go just yet.]

[The words tumble out before he even has a chance to think on them.]

Is that... the only thing you wanted to say to me just now?

[He had trailed off. There was something else there, and though Ion couldn't be sure whether it was what he was wanting to hear or not, he wanted to hear it. His eyes don't break contact with Luke's.]

[... He's still touching him, and Ion just keeps looking at him. He really does have wonderful eyes...

It makes Luke reach his hand up to grip Ion's, fingers curling around it and pressing it to his shoulder.]

I... [But Luke has to break eye contact. He can't possibly spill something like this while maintaining such an intimate gesture.] I... Th-The fact that... I mean...

... I think - I... I really like you. As more than... what we have now.

[Ion's eyes widen and his cheeks redden with a soft blush. Of all the things Luke could have said, to hear him say that is enough to make his wings flutter ~~and that's not a metaphor~~.]

Luke...

[There's a pause, and then he reaches up and rests his free hand on Luke's cheek, trying to get him to look at him.] I... I'm so happy to hear that. Because I feel the same way about you.

I-It's okay, I...

[...

Wait.

WAIT.

He blinks, and he does dart his eyes back to look at Ion's again.]

Wait, you... what?

[A shy, somewhat timid nod.] I feel the same way. I've never said anything about it before, because... I was afraid things between us might change if you knew and didn't return my feelings.

[He smiles, his hand gently sweeping down to Luke's neck as he leans in just a little closer.]

Even back when when we first met in Cheagle Woods, there was always a part of me that wanted to be closer to you, Luke... and it's only now that I've finally come to realize what that feeling truly was.

[Luke stares for a moment... And then he lets out a small, somewhat giddy laugh and ducks his head. That... sounded very corny, but it still made his feelings soar. So, he can't help laughing like this.]

Ion, I...

[And he realizes how much closer Ion is.

Luke can't help leaning in just slightly, even though his nerves are making butterflies flutter in his stomach. Maybe they can...]

Luke...

[When Luke starts to lean in, Ion can feel his face heat up and his heart starts beating faster in his chest. He's done this enough with Kohan to know where it's going, but Kohan is the last thing on his mind right now. All he's thinking about is Luke and how much he cares about him and how much he wants to just lean in and kiss him...]

[In fact, that's what he's going to do. He lets his eyes slide closed and cranes his neck just enough so his lips can meet Luke's.]

[Yeah... He's done this with Xion plenty of times and, like Ion, she's the last thing on his mind. All he can think about is how Ion's leaning in, the sparks that fly through his body as their lips touch...

Luke shuts his eyes and raises his hands, one to rest on Ion's cheek and the other on the back of his head, and he returns that kiss even as he feels his own cheeks heat up. A soaring feeling rises in his chest, one that - ]

[- twists very suddenly into shock and horror and disgust at himself and sinks straight to his stomach as the effect of the fruit finally wears off.

His eyes open wide, and he yanks himself backward as his hands fly to his mouth.]

Ion! [Oh god they just kissed each other oh god ewww WHAT DID HE JUST DO]

[When their lips touch, everything in the world feels just perfect. Nothing else matters except Luke and Ion right here in this room, in this moment in time, just the two of them. Ion gently rests one hand along Luke's waist and the other against his chest, his whole body tingling as Luke holds him closer.]

[He couldn't help but wonder why they had never done this before!?]

[...and it only takes a second for Ion to remember why.]

[o h.]

[He's kissing Luke.]

[...]

[His eyes snap open at just about the same time that Luke's do, and he takes a staggering step backwards as Luke quickly pulls away.]

Lu... Luke! [He stares up at Luke in shock before bringing both his hands up to cover his lips. Dear Lorelei, that really just happened -- they just kissed. And had a really embarassing confession here in this really romantic room and what!?]

What... just now, that was... [Words, words!!] ...what happened to us?

I don't know, don't ask me! [DON'T TALK TO ME DON'T LOOK AT ME DON'T ANYTHING

He wipes at his lips and looks at the door. Oh, god, he needs to get out of here and apologize to Xion; this wasn't the first time this happened, after all.] Something's just going on today, I don't -

It... it must be an experiment. That would be why we--

[Although now that Ion thinks about what he said... just where did that bit about Cheagle Woods come from? He's fairly certain the Malnosso hadn't done anything to his memories in whatever instant this scenario was created, so why did he--]

[.......oh.]

[There is now a very pronounced blush on Ion's face. And he might just be staring at Luke and oh Lorelei he should not be staring at Luke right now but that's what's happening and he seems more or less frozen in place, so he's not looking away anytime soon.]

[Luke's already moving to the door, and he turns to ask if Ion's coming or not... when he sees the way he's staring at him.

Oh god that just makes him want to leave all the time.]

... What?! [STOP STARING.]

N-Nothing! It's nothing. Nothing at... all...

[Come on, Luke, don't look at him like that or you'll break his tiny little confused heart. Or something. At least he's looking away now! At the ground. In shame.]

[...maybe it'd be for the best if Luke just left him here for awhile.]

[Well. Now that Ion's looking away, Luke will just shake his head, let out a "tch", and then turn away to leave. If Ion wants to stay here, he can, but Luke feels he has a mess to clean up now. 8|]

[Yeah, and Ion will just let him go. And then maybe wait a good 10-20 minutes before finally leaving himself, just to make sure he doesn't run into Luke again.]

[This was bad for his health, man...]
