[Raindrops falling from the sky and splashing down into the nearby river can be heard over the journal network. Someone talking very softly to himself can vaguely be heard over the sound of the rain.]

Where is this place...? Ah, there's buildings over there, I wonder if I should go there first...

[There is a pause as the boy in question stops and opens the journal. The the sound of pages turning mixes in with the rain alongside the quiet voice of someone who doesn't seem to realize the audio is turned on.]

Maybe... there's some information about this place in here...?

[Let her make the decision for you, then, Ion!]

Okay, I know where that is! I'll be right over! Sit tight, Ion!

[She grabs an umbrella and a coat and is out the door in record time!]

Oka- ah!

[She was already gone! So he closed his journal and walked to the front door, waiting just inside for Anise! He'd wait outside but, well, it's raining, and these are his only clothes...]

[The Welcome Center's quite a ways away, though. But Anise will be running over as fast as she can without slipping into puddles. It's kind of dark out, because of all the rain, so she's looking around for him.]

[And with that, Ion finds himself feeling... worried? Impatient? Excited? Maybe a mix of all of the above. After only a minute or so of waiting inside, he decides to forget about the clothes and hurries outside as well, glancing around for Anise. He can't go too far, though, or he'd probably wind up lost!]

[Ion, you're just begging for a telling-off from Anise, aren't you? Regardless, she spies that oh-so-familiar shade of green soon-]

Ion, what are you doing out in the rain?! You could catch a cold! You know you get sick really easily!

[Going right over with her umbrella so he isn't under the rain, frowning.]

[And it's only then when she's standing so close that she registers that he's actually here. That she's talking to him, and lecturing him for being careless like they hadn't been apart for months and months.]

Ion, I...

[She tightens her grip on the umbrella, suddenly remembering the last moments she'd spent with him.]

[... She just settles for a little smile.]

It's so good to see you! ♥ Though I'm not surprised; you're always getting kidnapped, it was only a matter of time before they got to you, too!

[The second he hears his name called, Ion turns and looks...!]

[His mind swirls with emotion as he's scolded, and for a moment, it feels like old times!]

[He's still quiet as Anise goes on to make a kidnapping joke...]

[And then it hits him: Anise is here, standing beside him. His best friend is standing right in front of him; she's really here...!]

[And Anise is given almost no warning as Ion throws his arms around her and pulls her in for a sudden hug.]

Anise...! You're really here, you...! I'm so happy to see you!

I'm glad, too! Ion, I... [Anise laughs as she returns the hug, not caring that they're in the rain. She can't help it; It's just been so long.]

[...]

[Far too long, it seems.]

[She tightens the hug, and somehow her laugh becomes a bit of quiet sob.]

Ion... Ion, I'm so sorry. So, so sorry.

[He's enjoying the hug, not even caring about the rain or the cold... but then he hears Anise beginning to cry, and the smile drops from his face.] Anise...

[He tightens the hug in turn and gives her a few moments before gently pulling away so he can face her.] You have nothing to be sorry for, Anise. You were trying to protect the ones you loved... just like all those times you protected me...!

[His voice cracks a little. The rain dripping down his face mixes with tears, but his expression stays strong.] ...but I'm here now, see? I'm okay. So.. p-please don't cry, Anise.

[She's trembling a little, and it's hitting her how much she's missed him, how much it hurt to lose him like that, how she feels like nothing will make up for what she'd done... She's never really had the chance to mourn him properly, has she?]

Ion... Ion... [She sniffs, trying not to cry because he asked so nicely, but...]

[It seemed as though the more Anise cried, or tried not to, the more Ion did. He hadn't even cried during his own death. But as painful as that was, seeing Anise in pain now was far worse.] Anise...

[He wraps his arms around her again and hugs her tightly, unable to hold back a small sob of his own.]

[It takes a moment or two, but Anise eventually calms down enough to stop. She pulls back hesitantly; if it were up to her, she'd never let go. He might disappear again.]

S-sorry. It's just - I missed you, Ion. [She manages a tiny smile.] I guess I shouldn't be crying since you're actually here, now.
