[Over the past few weeks, Ion had become used to going outside amongst the trees behind House 1 and reading beneath the shade. Lately, the weather hadn't been too nice, so he remained indoors. He had hoped it would have just remained overcast, rather than turn into a full-blown storm! But today the weather had changed, and it was sunny once more. A perfect day to go out around the village!

Although something was a bit off about Ion today. For starters, this was his third day without sleep. He'd been staying in his room at night to avoid worrying anyone, but... well, what was there to worry about? He felt fine, totally refreshed, and so far he'd been keeping himself occupied by reading his books every night with the light on. Although he was a little curious about how he hadn't run out of books yet. Hadn't he read this one already? He thought he did, but he couldn't seem to recall anything about it! And so he spent the last few days rereading the same book for the first time over and over again.

Right now, the little Fon Master is heading towards the library in order to find a new book. That is, he was, until he noticed hey! He never got around to reading this, did he?

...did he?

Now feeling rather confused, Ion stopped and sat on the edge of the fountain for a moment, hoping to straighten out his thoughts.]

[With three days having passed and not many many memories for the mushi to feed on, already it seems like most residents in Luceti have suddenly become strangers to the Fon Master. Poor Emil is no exception.]

[He stares up at him for a minute before asking, quite sincerely:] ...I'm sorry, but... do I know you?

[... that's kind of depressing. Emil knows he isn't anything special, but he didn't think he was THAT forgettable. Oh well.]

It's Emil... don't you remember me?

Should I..? [He frowned, trying to think. How strange. He couldn't remember meeting anyone around the village before!

Wait. That doesn't make much sense either. He shakes his head.] Sorry, I've been a bit... forgetful lately.

That's okay, maybe you just haven't been sleeping well. I know that hearing strange voices all the time can be kind of creepy-- it's been making it hard for me to sleep too. That's why Colette and I were talking about finding someone to sing over the journals to distract everyone.

Now that you mention it, I haven't had a good night's rest for a few days, now. That's probably it...

For days...? That's not good at all; maybe you should go see if Doctor McCoy still has any of those pills left. They helped me get to sleep when I was having trouble, so I bet they'd help you too.

I probably should. I haven't felt tired at all, really, but it has made me rather scatterbrained.

Are you sure you're not coming down with something?

Well, I did fall asleep outside a few days ago... er, at least I'm pretty sure I did. [A pause.] Maybe I should go see Doctor... uhm. [He looks down and sighs.] This is kind of embarrassing now, hahah...

You aren't the only one who's done that before-- sometimes it's hard not to when it's so nice out and the sun is so warm. At least you didn't fall asleep on the edge of the fountain, right?

No, it would have been around the house. [A small look on confusion crosses his face.]

...what's a "fountain"?

... you know, the one in the middle of town?

The middle of... [Wait, wasn't that where they were? The only thing here was...! He turns and looks at the fountain, which they were right next to.] Oh, you mean this.

This has always been here, right... [It sounded more like he was trying to convince himself of that fact.]

Yeah, this is the only fountain here. It's been here since before I even arrived, and that was almost two years ago. You really don't remember that at all?

[Now he's concerned. Sleeping problems were one thing, but completely forgetting basic facts like that?]

I... I don't. Not at all.

[He shakes his head and gets to his feet.] I think I should head back. If I'm this tired, I-I shouldn't be out walking around...

Here, I'll go with you. If you're really feeling that sick, you could end up falling and hurting yourself or getting lost on the way back to the house.

Thank you, that's very kind of you. [Especially to someone who doesn't remember who you are, sob.] I hope it's not too out of the way. It's House...

...

...House One. [It took a moment, but he remembered it!]

[He nods.]

I know where that is; it's where Anise lives. We can get to it if we just go straight up that road. It's not very far away at all-- follow me.

[And he'll start off in the direction of the house, glad that it isn't on the other side of the village or anything.]

All right. [He nods and follows behind him, glad that Emil knows the way. While the mushi wouldn't let him forget the way back home, Ion didn't know that...]

Uhm. Thanks again, for this.

You're welcome... I couldn't just let you try to make it back home on your own when you aren't feeling well.

[Fortunately for poor tired Ion, it won't be a very long walk at all.]

[The weak smile on his face brightens once House 1 comes into view.]

I think I'm good from here. Thank you for walking me back. I... [He pauses, and then his voice grows more certain.] I promise, I won't forget your kindness.

[Although right now, he's just hoping he won't forget the guy's name.]

[Emil nods at Ion, pleased to see that he's looking a bit better now.]

I'm just glad I could help. You take care of yourself and try to get some sleep, and if you're still having trouble, I can ask Doctor McCoy about those pills for you.

I'm certain I'll feel better after I can get some rest. It was nice meeting... er, seeing you again, Emil. [He smiles and shoots Emil a tiny wave before turning and heading towards House 1. He wasn't sure if sleep would help, given he's already been trying to sleep for the past few days... but hey, it was worth a shot to keep trying!]

[He waits to make sure that Ion makes it to the house safely before turning to head back to his own house.]
