[Save perhaps Sync's recent arrival, Ion hasn't been as stressed as he has been these past few months. The lack of experiments has made for a nice change of pace, though he's been refraining from saying as much. Just in case the Malnosso suddenly feel like putting an end to this little break... but it's that lack of stress that makes this new condition of his all the more mysterious. Losing a few feathers when he was sick wasn't entirely uncommon for him, and he had been feeling rather under the weather these past few days, but... well.]

Perhaps this is a bit of an odd question, but has anyone ever had their wings suddenly [...] change? Aside from just the color.

[Glancing over his shoulder. He has his wings folded behind his back so they don't appear in the journal-window. Usually they weren't out at all... which is mostly why he's only now noticing the change.]

Though I guess the color would apply as well, in this case...

[What, they don't really teach about filial puberty in school! At least, if they did, it was probably one of those days Ion when was out sick. Which is a lot. Though someone Ion's age probably should have already lost most of the fluffy feathers on his wings...... he's a late bloomer, okay.]

It doesn't hurt, but I do feel a little tired. Though I guess that isn't too out of the ordinary for me, is it?

Yes. They are... pretty sensitive, after all.

[Though after getting one cut off, losing a feather or two just doesn't seem as big a deal anymore.]

[Thankfully Ion doesn't make it a habit to tell people about that time he almost died... again.]

Something like that, perhaps... someone else did mention something like that, though they said it was something that happened to birds.

Well... these are kind of like birds' wings, right?

I guess they are, but it just seems a bit weird to think of them that way. We can't fly with them, after all.

We're a little bigger than birds.

[A soft chuckle.] I think that would depend on the kind of bird, wouldn't it?

Well... how big do they really get?

The gryphons back on Auldrant are large enough to carry a person... though I'm not sure they'd really count as a bird or not.

Carry a person? Really?

Yes. They're a type of monster, so they can grow to be rather large.

[Really.]

I don't think I've seen bird monsters before. [ There were wyverns, but those were closer to reptiles. ]

There are a few other kinds as well, but they're all rather different from normal birds. Thankfully, I haven't seen any around in Luceti... they're not exactly friendly.

Well... our wings are still small for our bodies, right?

I imagine they'd be a rather inconvenient if they were any bigger. When they're small, they're easier to just fold up under clothing.

[Which Ion does pretty much all the time these days.]

Yeah, but then you could fly. [ He laughs softly. ]

I would think they'd have to be pretty big for us to be able to fly with them.

Probably. I dunno about you, but I'd like to see what it's like to fly for once.

Well, I don't know about using your own wings to fly, but I have flown before. On Auldrant, they have machines than can fly through the air... though I imagine that would probably be a little different.

I bet it's a lot different. Like... walking instead of riding around in something.

Like walking through the air... [That actually did sounded pretty nice.] I think the closest I've ever gotten to that is falling.

I don't think it's like falling. [ You didn't hurt yourself right. ]

I would hope not. Landing sounds like it'd be a lot easier if you could fly.
