[Save perhaps Sync's recent arrival, Ion hasn't been as stressed as he has been these past few months. The lack of experiments has made for a nice change of pace, though he's been refraining from saying as much. Just in case the Malnosso suddenly feel like putting an end to this little break... but it's that lack of stress that makes this new condition of his all the more mysterious. Losing a few feathers when he was sick wasn't entirely uncommon for him, and he had been feeling rather under the weather these past few days, but... well.]

Perhaps this is a bit of an odd question, but has anyone ever had their wings suddenly [...] change? Aside from just the color.

[Glancing over his shoulder. He has his wings folded behind his back so they don't appear in the journal-window. Usually they weren't out at all... which is mostly why he's only now noticing the change.]

Though I guess the color would apply as well, in this case...

[What, they don't really teach about filial puberty in school! At least, if they did, it was probably one of those days Ion when was out sick. Which is a lot. Though someone Ion's age probably should have already lost most of the fluffy feathers on his wings...... he's a late bloomer, okay.]

[And Ion is going to open the door with a smile, because he's fine, just... well, now he's just confused. Plus, he actually has his wings out for once, though only because covering them when they were still so sensitive was uncomfortable.]

Hello, Anise. Did you... see what that entry over the journals?

Of course I did! [She frowns at his wings.] Jeez, you probably caught a cold again!

That's what I was thinking, but I just got over a cold. I don't usually get sick twice in a row. [...] At least, not so quickly after getting better.

And besides that, I feel fine. [Really! He's not (too) pale or feverish or anything.]

[...Do you see this dubious stare.]

So your feathers are just...falling out for no reason at all? [Losing his wings mean he dies, right? Does losing all his feathers amount to the same thing? What if Ion caught some weird incurable disease?]

A few of the people who replied seemed to have some idea what it was, but... [He's trying to smile, but he's actually rather worried as well. If it was something he caught, does that mean the others could catch it too? He's already lost a wing once. What would happen if all the feathers fell off...]

[He shakes his head. There was no reason to make Anise worry about this too.]

I'm sure whatever it is, it isn't serious. I haven't lost too many feathers, and it doesn't even seem to be affecting me.

[And of course, the second he says that, another feather that had been only-barely holding on fluttered down to the ground behind him.]

[SHE SEES THAT FEATHER FALLING.]

Ion! You aren't trying to pretend not to be sick, are you? [Hands on her hips. Doing that doesn't help anyone!] So, what do the people on the journals say?

I wouldn't pretend about something like this, Anise. [He knows wings are serious business after all... though he might be pretending not to be as tired as he is right now, which is why he'll walk back into his room and sit on the edge of his bed with a sigh.]

[But hey, he's always tired, so it's not like that's something out of the ordinary!]

A few of them said it could just be molting. It's the same thing birds go through at a certain time of the year. Old feathers fall out and new ones grow in to replace them. Though I've never had something like this happen before...

Ohhhh! That doesn't sound too bad. [Are you sure that's all though?] Maybe it happens pretty rarely so you've never heard of it! How long have you been here again, Ion?

...almost two years, now. [He sounds a little surprised when he says it. In a month, it'll have been two years since he arrived... somehow it doesn't feel like that long.]

[And not just because Luceti has shorter years.]

Oh...Our years or Luceti years?

[Whatever it is, it's still a long time, especially considering their age.]

[Even more so, considering Ion's. Naturally it's crossed his mind before that someday he'll probably have been living in Luceti longer than he was alive on Auldrant.]
