[Save perhaps Sync's recent arrival, Ion hasn't been as stressed as he has been these past few months. The lack of experiments has made for a nice change of pace, though he's been refraining from saying as much. Just in case the Malnosso suddenly feel like putting an end to this little break... but it's that lack of stress that makes this new condition of his all the more mysterious. Losing a few feathers when he was sick wasn't entirely uncommon for him, and he had been feeling rather under the weather these past few days, but... well.]

Perhaps this is a bit of an odd question, but has anyone ever had their wings suddenly [...] change? Aside from just the color.

[Glancing over his shoulder. He has his wings folded behind his back so they don't appear in the journal-window. Usually they weren't out at all... which is mostly why he's only now noticing the change.]

Though I guess the color would apply as well, in this case...

[...]

[What, they don't really teach about filial puberty in school! At least, if they did, it was probably one of those days Ion when was out sick. Which is a lot. Though someone Ion's age probably should have already lost most of the fluffy feathers on his wings...... he's a late bloomer, okay.]

[Dist takes great care in examining Ion's wings, only running his fingers through the fluff, sliding them off of the much longer, sturdier feathers. If the down didn't remove itself with a bit of tender coaxing, Dist didn't press. To do so would cause Ion's wings pain, and that's not what he intended to do. Looking and the feathers that removed themselves with very little effort, Dist shakes them off into a trash bin nearby.]

Are you all right, Fon Master? I didn't harm you at all, did I? If so, it was not my intent, and I apologize. However, I don not believe you have anything to fear at all. Your wings are simply progressing in maturity it seems. The rest of the down should remove itself in little to no time at all on its own.

There's really nothing at all out of the ordinary. [Dist motions to his own wings, extending one for show. The feathers were long, strong, black, and rather glossy. He may be in his mid thirties, but Dist isn't anywhere near old, and he was healthy, to boot.] Comparing your wings to my own, you can see that I've no trace of the downy feathers at all. Though if you inspect the incoming feathers, the sheen, shape, and structure are similar.

[Dist takes a moment to think about that, straightening up and tapping his chin with one hand. He gives Ion a brief glance, and thinks back to the original. Just how old was the real Ion before he passed away? If Ion's body was maturing as well, then suffice to say that the wings would match that, Hm...how interesting, the wings follow the progression of age of their owner. Very fascinating...]

It could very well be that your body is maturing as well, and the wings are merely reflecting that. It's only a thought and a guess, but the wings we're given seem like they develop with their owner. If that is really the case, then there's nothing at all to worry about. You're only growing, Fon Master, nothing more than that.

Correct. It could very well be that you're maturing, and progressing from a juvenile to an adult, Fon Master. ...Do you not understand?

[That last bit isn't meant condescendingly. It's just an honest, curious question. Ion is maturing, and that's normal for a boy his age. Though considering his "true" age as a replica, and what he was made to learn to assume the role of Fon Master...suffice it to say, the physiology of the human body was probably not something Ion learned.]

It's quite all right, Fon Master. I don't believe you'd be tutored in such a field during your studies.

[He waves his hand dismissively, not thinking much of the fact. Now...how and where to begin? Dist takes a moment to pause and hum in thought, then just dives right in with the explanation without much hesitation at all. It's a natural thing the body goes through, and everyone experiences it if they're a child. It's purely biological.]

Well, as individuals grow to a certain age, roughly around their early teenage years - though some males and females develop sooner or later than others - they reach a stage of physical development that induces strong hormonal reactions within the body. Basically, this progression into maturity is the body developing the necessities to reproduce and thus create offspring. Females also gain the qualities to nurture their offspring as well.

[Aaand the conversation will tailspin like the Albiore III into a deep and descriptive telling of the magic of puberty.

Have fun with that, Ion.]

[And Dist seems totally undisturbed by this. Ion did ask, and everything he said would be something the boy would learn of eventually anyway! If not from him, then from someone who didn't know a ruddy thing about what they were talking about. Looking pleased with himself for his so-called "good deed", and getting to talk for so long without interruption, Dist straightens.]

But of course, Fon Master Ion! Thank you for taking the time you listen. Now you see that there is nothing at all to worry about with the development of your wings. So, if we're finished, I'll be taking my leave. You seem to be in excellent health otherwise. If you've any other concerns or questions, I'd be glad to assist.
