Miasma Contamination Plot

In order to test the limits of time-release shifts and shifts controlled over long distances, the Malnosso have fitted Ion with a particular shift that will gradually flood his body with seventh fonons contaminated with miasma. If the experiment is successful, they should be able to control how fast the progression of the miasma toxicosis begins. However, because the fonons are not specifically being sent through his blood stream as they had been with Tear (blood fonons), his vital organs will remain mostly unharmed. Instead, the miasma will condense in the muscles on his arms and legs, leading to the eventual paralysis of the latter.

January
10th-12th
The first symptoms of the shift caused his body to feel weak and heavy for a few days. He would also get sharp pains in his arms and legs whenever he moved them after not doing so for too long. This only really happened when he first woke up, and he dismissed it as regular muscle-aches associated with kidnappings.

13th-19th
The initial flood of miasma has settled in his body, and instead his body begins to react positively to the increase in seventh fonons. Earlier in the summer, his health had taken a poor turn after using his fonic artes while before fully recovering from an illness, causing the level of seventh fonons in his body to reach much lower levels than usual [X]. As a result, for the first week he'll appear to be in near-perfect health, as though he has successfully recovered from his kidnapping.

20th-26th
The time-release shift once more increases the level of contaminated fonons in his body, cancelling out the beneficial effects of the additional seventh fonons. The muscle pain begins again, only this time will continue on into a dull-ache that never completely goes away throughout the day. The pain won't be enough to interfere with his daily routines, but he may become sleepy at points during the day.

January - February
27th-2nd
The time-release shift increases the level again, this time causing his muscles to feel stiff and difficult to move in the morning and when he gets too cold. He'll also become noticeably clumsier, tripping over things and dropping things for seemingly no reason. NOTE: If emotional trauma occurs anytime after the 20th, these symptoms will show up much faster.

3rd-9th
Sometime during this week, Ion will fall down a flight of stairs. This will make him realize that whatever is happening to him is serious and he can't keep hiding it.

10th-23rd
Ion will begin walking strangely as he slowly loses the ability to properly move the muscles necessary for walking. If this happens during the Valentine's Day event, he may confide in whoever he is paired with that he thinks he is sick. NOTE: Depending on when the fallout for the Valentine's Day event begins, he may require a cane to walk.

February - March
24th-9th
The final time-release shift increase will be a change from a gradual release to a constant for this week. Early on, he'll realize that he can no longer afford spending the extra energy to go upstairs and will permanently move his room to Peony's old room. This may be threaded. There will be a noticeable shift from constant pain to numbness, eventually settling into an inability to move his legs at all. By the 9th, he won't be able to walk anymore.

9th
Ion will need a wheelchair to get around.

10th~30th
Although there will be no sign of Ion getting better, there will also be no signs of him getting worse. During this time, he'll need to start looking for ways to cure/diagnose his condition, if no one has already done so. If no one in the village is capable of helping, asking the Malnosso directly for assistance is a possibility. NOTE: Removing the shift alone is not enough to cure him, as his body is still filled with contaminated fonons.

NOTE: The below timeline is a potential endgame for this plot, but not necessarily how it will play out.

1st Week
If nothing has been done, Ion will begin getting worse again as the miasma begins to migrate out of his leg muscles and further into his body. He'll begin dropping things and soon become unable to hold a pen.

2nd Week
His arms become too heavy to lift, and Ion becomes more or less bound to his wheelchair. He'll need assistance with eating and bathing. He'll begin to feel pain in his abdomen and chest. His speech becomes affected as well.

Third Week
Ion loses his ability to speak. His breathing becomes unsteady and all he can do is smile and cry.

Fourth Week
Ion loses his ability to keep down solid food.

Finale
Ion will be kidnapped and returned to the village with all but his ability to walk restored. Over the next few days, he'll slowly regain that as well. NOTE: If they ask the Malnosso for help (such as through the use of mission points), a note will be left behind following the kidnapping explaining that he will be returned to them "good as new".
