distressedude: (AND THE PANTS WERE DEAD)

016 ~ [Action]

[After being flung into countless numbers of trees from the third party's traps during the last draft, Ion swore to himself he'd never climb another tree for as long as he lived. Obviously, he didn't count on finding a baby bird having fallen out of its nest when he made that declaration. And with the mother bird calling for her child overhead, Ion couldn't just leave the poor thing there to die.]

[Thankfully, getting to the top of the tree where the nest was had been surprisingly easy! Getting down... not so much. He didn't notice the lower branch breaking until after he stepped off of it, and now that he was on his way down, he found himself stuck. He wasn't too high up, but this particular tree had quite a few thorn bushes around it. He'd been able to avoid them going up for the most part, but if he were to try jumping, the chance of him falling into one of these bushes was rather high. He wasn't too far off the path, just a ways north of the village, so hopefully someone will spot him.]

[Though, in restrospect, today was probably a bad day to wear green.]

~

[Assuming the princess is eventually rescued, Ion will be spending the remainder of the day at the library in search of a few new books to read before eventually returning home, his clothes still looking a bit worse for wear.]

[[ooc: Feel free to break time and space for the first part, or run into him walking towards the library looking... well, like he fell out of a tree.]]

[Well, he certainly was hard to spot, sporting all that green... Dist doesn't voice those thoughts, however, instead, he's trying to find a good point directly under the boy in case he fell. Just what Ion needed, another concussion.]

What in the world are you doing up there?!

[A baby bird? Ion was risking his own neck for a baby bird? Dist tries very hard not to make a face, but he still frowns somewhat. Honestly, that boy was was too kind. That tiny thing will probably get eaten in the next day if it was weak enough to fall out of its nest. Of course, Dist doesn't say that, and just sighs, shaking his head slowly.]

Honestly, Fon Master... [Dist observes the area, and the thorny bushes, then the height of the tree. Hm, jumping would be no good, judging trajectory and mass...Ion would land right into those thorns.] All right, try letting go a moment, I'll catch you.

[Dist moves underneath Ion's branch and reaches up for him with both arms. It's a good thing he's tall, otherwise this might not have worked. He can catch and pull Ion down mid fall. The boy shouldn't weigh too much. Certainly not as much as some of the materials he was used to carrying for his robotic work.]

[Dist nods to Ion's words and keeps a good eye on him as he prepares to take that leap of faith. Any miscalculation, or lapse in concentration, on Dist's part could result in Ion falling on him instead of the thorn bushes, and heaven knows he doesn't want that to happen. H-How undignified... The very thought makes Dist cringe.

Thankfully though, Ion flops right into the man's awaiting arms and Dist sets Ion down gently. There was only slight impact when Ion met Dist's arms, but...really, he was rather light. Dist was mildly surprised by Ion's weight, or lack thereof. He supposes it could be attributed to his health, but still. You need to eat more, young man. 8|]

There you are. You didn't harm yourself at all, correct?

[Nrrgh, Dist tenses a little at the uncomfortable feeling of being clung to like that. He's still so unaccustomed to people touching him even remotely, so having Ion latch onto him like that...it was strange, and Dist dusted his own clothes a bit as well. H-He wrinkled his coat's sleeves!

But it is better having Ion safe and on the ground than having him fall and break his neck or something similar. Really, he shouldn't have even climbed up the tree in the first place!]

Yes, yes, of course...now I should hope you won't be climbing to any more dangerous heights anytime soon, Fon Master. You've only just recently recovered from your head injury some time ago, after all. I don't want you harming yourself to a degree I cannot cure.

[Ion, you live to make Dist fret over you. Thankfully, he can't read the boy's thoughts, though there's a certain sense of knowing that Ion will get himself into trouble like this again. It's exasperating, and frustrating, but just a part of Ion's personality. The boy was far too kind for his own good.

Dist observed the spectacle, turning his body around to face the two. That...was extremely strange. Cute, maybe a little, but strange. Dist still couldn't get over the fact that the Luceti animals could speak. It made wanting to experiment on a few of them difficult - though he was still curious about some of the more unfamiliar animals. Nephry and Ion would never let his dissect one though.]

If you're finished, Fon Master...

[Sorry to bust up the chat, but Dist had places to be, he's not going to play babysitter for the rest of the day if he can help it. Though he does want to see that Ion's not running up another tree anytime soon, too.]

[Blinking only in mild surprise at the question, Dist looks Ion in the eye and nods just once.]

...That was my intention, yes. I needed to return the books I had taken out of the library some time ago, and perhaps pick up some new ones. I also need to take a visit to the smithy to look for some materials. Were you headed that way as well, Fon Master?

[If he was, good, Dist could keep an eye on him for a little while. Heaven knows how long the boy had been stuck in that tree. Maybe they could get a snack at the bakery, too. Or at least some water...Ion should stay hydrated in the warmer weather of Luceti.]

That sounds like an excellent idea, Fon Master, I'd be glad to accompany you.

[This was excellent! Dist could take care of his business and keep an eye on Ion as well this way. And perhaps they could recommend books to eachother as well. Dist needed something good to read again. Those mystery stories were just what he liked.]

Shall we be going now? Or do you need another moment to rest a while?

[Dist nodded, then took a step forward, waiting for Ion to follow. He kept the young Fon master close in his sights, though he was curious as to just how long poor Ion had been stuck in that tree. Good lord, if he was in there for a few hours...he should eat and drink something.]

I think a bit of lunch beforehand sounds like a good idea. I hope you don't object, Ion.

[Dist gives Ion a look, raising one brow and sighing. Breakfast? Honestly...it was almost lunch time now. He really hates to think this but - Ion, you're such an ignorant child. Dist keeps his pace languid so Ion can easily keep pace with him, but it's obvious he's unhappy with the prior ordeal even as he speak.]

Well, let's hope we don't come across any more distractions then. Come along, Fon Master, I'd like to finish my tasks before the day is done.

[As they walk, Dist keeps glancing at Ion, and though the boy is trying not to show his fatigue, Dist knows better. And he's not about to allow Ion to push himself more than he should. Dist places a hand on Ion's shoulder to stop him walking and judges the distance from their current position and the village. He decides it shouldn't be more than a few minutes' walk, then turns to Ion.]

Rest here a moment, Fon Master, I'll retrieve the items myself. Did you want anything specific?

[Action]

[identity profile] its-rose-damnit.livejournal.com 2011-08-09 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. I'll return momentarily, Fon master, so please, keep out of the sun while I'm away.

[And Dist will nod his head and walk toward the village square. it really doesn't take him long at all - a few minutes at best - but picking out something for Ion from the bakery seemed the harder task. He...really has no idea what to bring back for Ion. Just about everything in the bakery is sweet! He chews his lip, then swttles on some peculiar looking bread (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/be/Melonpan.jpg/800px-Melonpan.jpg), fashioned to look almost like a turtle. For himself, a simple apple tart.

Once he returns, he hands Ion the sweet and a bottle of water.]

Forgive me for taking longer than expected...I wasn't certain of your tastes, Fon Master. I hope this will suffice.

[Action]

[identity profile] its-rose-damnit.livejournal.com 2011-08-16 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, he saw that, and understood it well enough. Dist averts his eyes and says nothing, though he doesn't outright frown at the very least. He tried to find something that wasn't overly sweet, but it really was difficult! Anything that wasn't sweet just seemed...unappetizing. Plus, without knowing Ion's tastes, it just made the task that much more difficult.

Dist chooses to stand and lean against the trunk of the tree to eat, not wanting to dirty his clothes on the grass and soil. He finishes after Ion does, and after wiping his face and taking a drink of his own water, Dist offers a hand to help Ion stand.]

I hope it was satisfactory, Fon Master. Now, you said you wanted to go to the library next? Do you feel well enough to make the walk, or shall we head home instead?
