[After being flung into countless numbers of trees from the third party's traps during the last draft, Ion swore to himself he'd never climb another tree for as long as he lived. Obviously, he didn't count on finding a baby bird having fallen out of its nest when he made that declaration. And with the mother bird calling for her child overhead, Ion couldn't just leave the poor thing there to die.]

[Thankfully, getting to the top of the tree where the nest was had been surprisingly easy! Getting down... not so much. He didn't notice the lower branch breaking until after he stepped off of it, and now that he was on his way down, he found himself stuck. He wasn't too high up, but this particular tree had quite a few thorn bushes around it. He'd been able to avoid them going up for the most part, but if he were to try jumping, the chance of him falling into one of these bushes was rather high. He wasn't too far off the path, just a ways north of the village, so hopefully someone will spot him.]

[Though, in restrospect, today was probably a bad day to wear green.]

[Assuming the princess is eventually rescued, Ion will be spending the remainder of the day at the library in search of a few new books to read before eventually returning home, his clothes still looking a bit worse for wear.]

Yes, I probably should have thought ahead before I tried climbing so high. [If Anise were here, she'd probably be scolding him for it right now.]

But if I had left the bird alone on the ground, something might have happened to it.

[ Utter lack of self-regard to save a baby bird. She doesn't understand it, but she can respect it, so Vorona looks up. ]

If you were able to locate the nest, then it was not a fledgling at the start of learning flight. Saving a chick, but risking your well-being. Either you are foolish or exercising a feat of misplaced bravery. It would have been better to request the assistance of someone nearby, than to chance your life.

But still... it is commendable.

[It was probably a mix of both, really. Ion thinks it's more likely the former.] You're right. If I hadn't left my journal at home I might have been able to call someone to help. That probably would have been a better idea than climbing up there myself.

Then maybe I wouldn't have gotten stuck for so long...

[ But carrying the journal would have given you one less arm to climb with... She doesn't say it. ]

There exists a manner of falling and rolling that would have decreased the impact from landing after descending from a great height. If it is within your interest to climb more trees in the future, teaching is possible.

[He chuckles.] Hopefully there won't be a reason for me to climb anymore trees in the future. But thank you, Miss...?

[Ion would have to disagree, seeing as she did point out that twig in his hair, but he doesn't say as much.]

Oh, I hoping to find a new fiction series to start. I didn't realize I was on the final book of the last series I found here until yesterday, but I didn't want to walk here when it was raining. [He glances at those stacks of books again.] You wouldn't happen to have anything to recommend, would you?

[ Fiction? Well, okay... She brings up the mental catalogue of fiction books she's read...

And nodding, she takes a few books from a stack in front of her, placing them on the empty table space in front of Ion. ]

I am not partial to genre or content. To give a recommendation, I can only inquire after your preferences. Many fiction books exist. [ Putting down a book. ] Fantasy about wizards and sorcery. [ And another. ] Mystery about detective work. [ ... another. ] Slices of life. [ Derp. ] Inane romance.

[Ion looks over the titles as she lines them up before reaching down and picking up the mystery novel. Hadn't Dist mentioned he had been reading a series of mysteries recently? It wasn't the sort of thing he usually read, but...]

Have you been reading all of these? [Because this is seriously a huge stack to have out all at once.]

I affirm. [ Immediate and monotone response. She peers up at him while stacking some other mystery novels to the side as well, after seeing what the boy had picked up. ] The speed at which I read, gives me the capability to finish many titles at once. Convenient. When I arrived in Luceti, knew very little. I hope to amend this by the reading of many books. A lot of these, haven't seen before coming here.

[So she was really reading all of these...!?] I've never met someone who could read so quickly!

[He smiles appreciatively for the books as she adds more to the pile.] I tend to frequent the library, but I haven't seen you around here before. Would that mean you're one of the new feathers?

[ The slightest tilt of her head. ]

I affirm... A couple of days ago, my arrival. I hope to still adjust to Luceti. Library filled with information. A good place to learn what it is I was once ignorant to.
