[For anyone who knows Ion well enough to be considered a friend, or perhaps just well enough to say you've had a conversation with him at some point in the past, you just might catch a filter at some point during the day. It's a small, weak, empty filter and it'll disappear only a few minutes after it's made, so chances are you might miss it. But for those who happen to see it, there's an explanation that follows... though there's no filter here.]

[His voice sounds rather tired, and perhaps a bit sad.]

...when you can't set up a filter to someone, it means they've gone home, doesn't it.

Yes. But I'm sure it's better for him to be home now. I know he had been here a long time, after all.

Simon. He's Kamina's younger brother. [Who was someone else he hadn't heard from... maybe they were sent home together?]

Simon. I hadn't real seen him since before the draft and was wondering how he was... I guess I shouldn't have waited so long.

[He... does not know a guy named Simon. But obviously Ion did.]

It's... all right. For how long he had been here, I'm sure it's better that he could finally go back home.

You're probably right about that... But that doesn't mean you can't miss him, Ion.

[After a short pause:] ...I never said I wouldn't.

[coming in with lunch. She knows nothing about his filter or his question.]

[Ion had a bit of a frown on his face until Nephry walked in. He didn't have much of an appetite for breakfast this morning, but now that he'd been awake a little longer, he was hungry. He sets his journal aside and smiles.]

Good afternoon, Nephry.

[Good, because this sandwich and juice aren't going to finish themselves.]

Good afternoon. Feeling any better?

[A small nod.] Much better than yesterday, at least. My head has hardly ached at all since I woke up this morning.

[a smile, and she sets the tray on his lap] I'm glad to hear it.

[but is he feeling well enough to know, now, that she talked to Jade?]
